1 Senior Master Sergeant Addison L. Swindler, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Swindler of Sperryville, Va., has been decorated with the U. S. Air Force Commendation Medal at Hickam AFB, Hawaii.
Sergeant Swindler, a photomapping superintendent, was awarded the medal for meritorious service at Hickam. He was cited for his outstanding professional skill, initiative, and leadership which aided immeasurably in creating the photogrammetric cartographic career field. He is a member of the Pacific Air Forces, the nation’s combat-ready air arm guarding the 10,000-mile Bamboo Curtain.
The sergeant served during the Korean War. The Sperryville High School graduate attended the Municipal University of Omaha (Neb.) during his off-duty hours. His wife, Joan, is the daugh ter of Mrs. Netus Brown of R. F. D. 1, ^Fredericksburg, Va.
