Norfolk — Governor Mills E. Godwin (right) offers the finishing touch on Ford Motor Company’s symbolic 70-millionth U.S.-built vehicle at plant ceremonies here last week (May 3). Accepting the historic tags on behalf of the company is Charles H. Patterson, Ford executive vice-president. The milestone car, a Galaxie 500 two-door hardtop, represents Ford’s total U.S. car an<f truck production since 1903. Painted “Virginia blue,” the vehicle will remain in the Commonwealth for the balance of the year, visiting schools, safety conferences and public functions to demonstrate an experimental electronic driver aid called “Safety Sentinel.”
