“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.* (I Cor. 15;3-4). The popular conception of the Gospel is often a little hazy. I find that people have confused the message of the Gospel with the results of the Gospel. The root is one thing and the fruit is another. Both are essential. The Gospel as given above is a message of forgiveness through the cross of Christ It is God’s good news to sinners. The Son of God gave His life on behalf of sinners. It is also a message of victory. Christ rose from the grave. So He not only takes away the guilt of sin, but He gives power over it. The Gospel is the message that (1) Christ died for our sins, (2) Christ was buried, and (3) Christ rose again the third day. This is a message of grace. This is something He did for us. The fruit comes through believing the message. Believe1 it earnestly and it will charge your life.
