Driver Involved in
2 Crashes Saturday
i Oscar Leon Jones of Front Royal was arrested in Rappa hannock County Saturday morn ing after becoming involved in two traffic crashes between 3 and 4:30 a.m. The first crash occurred on Route 522 a mile north of Huntly, according to Trooper W. A. Buntin who investigated the incidents. Jones was operating a 1959 Buick when he ran off the road and knocked down a mail box belonging to H. W. Reager. He did not stop at the scene of the crash but was apprehended later and charged with hit and run property damage. The second crash took place on Route 211 a mile west of Washington when the same vehicle and operator ran off the left of the road^ went through a highway guard fence dislodging five posts, and then down an embankment. Jones sustained a lacerated lip and complained of chest injury. He was charged with reckless driving, said the Trooper. Damage to the fence was estimated at $50 and to the mail box $10. Combined damage to the vehicle in the two crashes was set at $700.
Floyd B, Hitt of Amissville sustained injuries when he A'as involved in a truck crash Sunday evening on Route 729 a half mile south of Ben Venue. He received abrasions of the right leg, laceration of the head and a sprained left leg when he was thrown from the vehicle. He was hospitalized over night in Warren Memorial Hospital and released Monday.
According to Trooper J. B. Willis, Hitt was operating a 1966 Chevrolet dump truck. He skidded on wet pavement as he applied his brakes when rounding, a left curve, said the officer. The vehicle crash ed into the bank. The accident occurred about 11:30 n.m.
