Grease 2 (8 inch) layer cake pans and line bottoms with waxed paper. Sift flour, sugar, corn starch, baking powder and salt together into mixing bowl. Combine corn oil, water and egg yolks. Add to dry ingredients and beat until smooth. Beat egg whites until peaks form. Fold into batter. Pour into prepared pans. Bake in 400 degrees F. (hot) oven until lightly browned and firm 25 to 30 minutes. Cool.
Whip cream. Spread about % the cream on 1 cake layer. Pile all but 6 strawberries on top of this layer, covering 2 sides only and leaving a wide strip down the middle uncovered. Cut second cake layer in half and place on top of cake, slightly raised at sides, to form wings. Pipe cream down the center, then pipe any remaining cream under top layer on top of strawberries. Garnish with strawberries. Dust wings lightly with confectioners sugar. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
