Tuesday night in Winchester. Mr. and Mrs. Titchenell and two children Sue and Bobby left Thursday to spend the Thanksgiving week-end at Mrs Titchenell'8 home In Mannington. W. Va. Mr. and Mrs. Asher Lowman of Arlington were at their home here several days last week. Gordon Hilldrup of Fredericksburg was a Sundgy guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Wood. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Johnson and Miss Mattie Rector were recent visitors of the Rev. and Mrs. Gary B. Baldwin in Culpeper. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson visited Miss Nellie Johnson in the Culpeper Memorial Hospital.

There still remains confusion on policies applied to “sole surviving son" and “only son" in regard to combat service in the armed forces. The Department of Defense on July 1, 1966, authorized discharges to members of the armed forces who. became qualified as ‘sole surviving sons,” upon their application for such discharge . This brings the DOD ruling more in line with Selective Service which defers the sole surviving son. “Only sons,” however, are not regarded as “sole surviving sons” and are expected to fulfill military obligations on the same basis as any other
