Ira S. Compton

Ira Samuel Compton, 67, of Mt. Jackson died Saturday, November 18, 1967, at his home.

He was a farmer and raised thoroughbred horses. Born in Sperryville, Va. on Dec. 15, 1899 he was the son of the late Frank and Nancy Dwyer Compton.

Surviving are his wife Mrs. Maxine Bowman Compton, one sister, Mrs. Bessie Woodward of Cheverly, Md. and one brother, Clarence Compton of Reva. A funeral service was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Dellinger Funeral Home, Mt. Jackson. The Rev. W. W. Pendleton officiated. Interment was in Mt. Jackson Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marvin Sigler, Carson Biller, Alvin Rinker, Phelps Payne, William Paxton, J. P. Streetman, Zane Bowman and Maywood Cornwell.
