Freeze Branding Is New

Cattle I. D. Method

Freeze Branding is a comparatively new method of cattle identification. It is done with metal s t e n c i 1 s chilled with a combination of alcohol and dry ice. It does not damage hides. Mumbers, letters, etc. are easier to read in winter than hot brands as hair color is changed to white. For this reason, it is not recommended for white or cream colored animals, shows up best on black cattle. A good freeze brand is permanent. Danger of cattle getting killed due to neck chains getting caught on snags', etc. is eliminated. Freeze branding can also reduce labor: no adjusting of neck chains, no retagging. Allows for more accurate record keeping. Those interested in a free demonstration in December on:
