Tax Requirements For Students

Students who worked parttime or during the summer may have a refund coming on their 1967 Federal income tax returns, James P. Boyle, District Director of Internal Revenue said today. Students are required to file a tax return if they earned $600 or more. If they earned less than $600 and taxes were withheld from wages by their employers, they should file a return in order to obtain a refund of thq tax withheld from their wages. Unmarried students who earn less than $900 will not owe any Federal income tax. They are entitled to claim the usual $600 personal exemption, plus a $300 minimum standard deduction.
