Mary Washington College Freshmen Rank High
' Most freshmen who entered Mary Washington College at the beginning of the 1967-68 school session ranked in the top fifth of their graduating secondary school class.
A freshman profile prepared by the college shows that 82 per cent of the 678 entering freshmen ranked in the first quintile of their classes.
The profile indicated that 15 per cent were in the second quintile, while 3 per cent rank ed in the third, fourth or fifth quintile, were not ranked at the secondary school they attended.
The newcomers achieved a mean verbal score of 575 on the required Scholastic Aptitude lest and received a mean mathematical score on the test of 567. Geographical distr ibut ion given shows that 72 per cent of the new students live in Virginia. Only 68 per cent, however, are legal residents of the state. Some 18 percent of the remaining out-of-state students are from the Middle Atlantic region.
