students, store owners, gas station attendants, or carpenters, men from all walks of life who are united into one organized team by the call for help whether it be an auto accident, a hunting accident, or an illness. One thing is just as important as the other. The Rescue Squad responds as quickly to one as to the other, not giving any regard to race or economic status. The one thing that is required of all the men is a desire to help people in trouble. The regular squadsmen all have the all-important First Aid training and afluent knowledge of the skills and techniques that save countless lives. When presented with a problem, the squadsman has the knowledge and training that enables him to react without a wasted second, to start working on the situation in an effort to correct whatever is wrong or to transport rhe victim to the hospital for treatment of more serious injuries. Oftentimes the squad is called under impression that there is some ejnergency when actually the person justs wants a free way to travel to the hospital, for a volunteer squad is not allowed to charge the persons*3 that are treated or transported. These cases are not common but they are far from rare. Fortunately the majority of persons do not take advantage of the generosity of the men that are a part of this team of “good Samaritans”.
