and Bobby Clater checked in 13 deer. John L. Jenkins of Castleton brought in an eight point buck, as did Franklin Hume of Annandale. Archie Bailey of Arlington and Clyde Pullen'of Washington both checked in Bucks. John Silvey of Amissville killed a six point buck in Culpeper that was checked at Jdn.-*kins Garage. Richard Menefee of Washington checked a four point buck. A buck killed by Oscar Sisk and a doe taken by John K. Gaines in Rappahannock were checked in Etlan. Clarence Baldwin put a check card on a bear taken by Cecil Hartley of Culpeper. This bear tipped the scales at 370 pounds after field dressing. Alsokilling bear in Rappahannock were William Clark and Ronnie Clark of Culpeper and Tex Weakley of Wolftown. The four bear taken this year equaled the number taken a year ago, which had been the county’s high year. For those hunters who were successful in this a lean year, the deer have been brought in and now checking cards show the success in black and white, but for those who ask why such a lean year - hunters will theorize all winter.
