Mr. Hull, who now lives in Virginia Beach, probably is best known for his association with the “Strike It Rich" program which was a top daytime and night-time television show from 1948 until the late 1950s. 1 He contributed his talents not | anly as emcee but assisted 1 with the creation and producj tion of the programs. Mr. Hull and the program received numerous citations from such groups as the American Legion and the President’s Committee for Employment of the Handicapped.
Before television, Mr. Hull for many yea'rs acted, announced and emceed for radio. His first broadcasting job was in 1923. Some of the programs with which he has been associated are the first Lucky Strike “Hit Parade", the Bea Lillie Show, the Maxwell House “Show Boat” and “Good News”, and the Jack Haley Show. While in Hollywood from 1935 to 1940 he worked with Warner Brothers, Columbia, Universal, RKO, and other motion picture studios, and played the leads in 36 movies and in the “Green Hornet” and “Spider" serials. In 1942, soon after his return to New York, Mr. Hull became co-interviewer with Parks Johnson on the “Vox Pop” show. There. followed seven years of travel, In a dif ferent location each week. Dur; ing.the war years the program1 was devoted to boosting thei war effort, broadcasting from service bases coast to coast; and in Canada. After the war, “Vox Pop” broadcast from France, England, Alaska, and Puerto Rico. Mr. Hull’s breakthrough in television came in 1947 when he did his own "Warren Hull Show” and emceed the “Cavalcade of Bands.” Then came the years of the "Strike It1 Rich” program. In the summer of 1962 he did “Who In the World” on CBS for Ralph Edwards.
