Va. Capitol Report
Some provocative new topics are making the scene at the Capitol this session of the Genera 1 Assembly, but the most important subject for discussion is the same as in previous years -- money. Legislators have not been been handicapped by a lack of ideas as to how to budget the State’s resour c e s. Succeeding waves of officials and citizens have appeared before committees to give convincing arguments for investing in scores of new buildings and programs that are not included in the Governor’s final budget recommendations.
Within a few days, the House of Delegates will be receiving from its appropriations committee a bill amended to include whatever new items the committee finds the budget can accommodate andstriW ing those it deems expendable.
