Panthers Lose Two
The Rappahannock County High Panthers dropped their first regular season game at I Culpeper Tuesday 7-2, after
| taking a 16-4 pounding at the hands of Randolph-Macon Academy Saturday In an exhibition game at Front Royal.
Sophomore catcher PaulAylor stood out for the Panthers in both contests, getting a triple and a single against RMA and getting a triple and a pair of singles at Culpeper. Mike Curtiss and Randy John son conbined to hurl a six hitter at Rappahannock while Mike Welch and Wayne Deal handled the mound duties for the Panthers. Culpeper jumped to a quick lead In the first on a walk, a single by Happy Hash, and five Panther errors. The Blue Devils added two unearned runs in the sixth and scored one in the seventh.
Both Rappahannock runs came In the fourth inning. Ay lor led off with a triple to right center, and raced home on James Jackson’s three bagger. Jackson scored on an infield out. Curtiss went four Innings for Culpeper and got credit for the win while Welch, the starter, took the loss. Friday the Panthers play host to Madison in another non-district affair. Box Score
