Top Campers Receive

Awards at Norwich

NORTHFIELD, VT.-As the closing event of the first session of the Norwich University Summer Camp for Boys, top campers were presented with awards at a banquet held on the jve of the session’s final day.

Campers, counselors and staff attended the affair. Dr. Walllace E. Baines, Assistant Director of the camp, and Activities Supervisors Leslie J. Hurley,

presentation of awards to the outstanding campers of the first session.

John H. Williams, son of Col. and Mrs. John Williams of Amissville, received a Norwich University Achievement Award for demonstrating outstanding traits of sportmanship, leadership, responsibility, and citizenship. He also received Athletic Achievement Awards for outstanding performance in archery, basketball, handball, swimming, mountaineering, rifle, golf, and wrestling. TTiis is John’s second year at the Norwich camp.

The first session of the annual summer camp was attended by 40 boys from eleven states. Fifty-three boys are attending the second four-week session, which began Sunday, July 21.

Director of the summer camp is Rodgers L. Gregory, Commandant of Cadets at Norwich.
