Virginia State Senate
Members of the state senate are elected at the general November elections for terms of four yean • in 1967, *71, ’75. Hie Virginia Senate, however, does not use the same districting as the House of Delegates, state constitution sets the maximum number of senaton at 40, and presently there are 37.
Registration to Vote
Antiquated as it may seem, the right to vote is not allowed to “persons who have fought a duel; with a deadly weapon, or sent or accepted a challenge to Tight such a duel, either within or without this state, or knowingly conveyed such a challenge, or aided or assisted in any way in the fighting of such duel.”
But to all intent and purpose, any sane person who becomes 21 before election date and has been a resident of Virginia for one year may register to vote. As the poll tax has been struck down, any citizen may register free of cost.
