Rep. John 0. Marsh, Jr., said this week that he had been advised by the Post Office Department that the Department had rescinded its order closing the post office at Chester Gap.
The Chester Gap office had been designated for closing by virtue of the recent manpower restrictions imposed on the Post Office Department. Congressional action was necessary to lift the manpower restrictions, and House action making this possible occurred late Thursday. The recision order would not become final until the bill had been signed by the President, but signing was expected to occur shortly.
Congressman Marsh, who had communicated with the Department, citing the need for continunig the office, said that he was pleased by this decision of Ihe Post Office Department.
