The sale was negotiated by Edward A. Harris and Associates, Realtors, for the Cheathams and the purchasers, Navy Captain George H. Sharp and Mrs. Sharp of Chevy Chase, Maryland, who plan to make their home at Mountain Green when the Captain retires from the Navy. They have four children, three boys and a girl. Mrs. Cheatham and her son, who will build a new house in Williamsburg, are retaining a part of the mountainland of “Mountain Green”. The Cheathams have close relatives in Williamsburg.
The sale includes a 37-acre apple orchard, which is under lease, a large bam, several outbuildings including a brick schoolhouse where local youngsters once were taught, and a tenant house. A total of 225 acres went with the sale. The Rush River traverses the front of the property along Harris Hollow Road, and a large shimmering pond adds beauty to the manor house setting.
