Route 627. Hawfield is also open for the exercising of bird dogs on Sunday only from now until the 18th of November. There are a number of open fields where you can easily see your dog work and should have no trouble finding quail. Hawfield—it’s yours, use it. Handle that gun with care and see that your buddy does. There were 46 hunting accidents in Virginia last year; 33 involving shot guns. The majority of all of those occurred at 10 yards or less in open cover on a clear day. Here is the really grim part. In the State of Virginia seven persons lost their lives last year due to hunting accidents. Let these figures serve not to dissuade you from hunting, but to persuade you to be enjoy ably safe when in the field. Watch your own gun, and if a companion is being careless, tell him about it. Hurt feelings will heal in time; gunshot wounds may not have time.
