The bear season over most of the state including Rappahannock County will open this coming Monday, November 11 and will close here on December 21. As in the past, the bag is one per license year of not less than 75 pounds live weight.
Nearly 120 high school boys are presently enrolled in the NR A Hunter Safety Program. These boys need some practical application of what they are learning in the classroom. Parents and adult friends of the boys should make every effort to get out and work with them. Let them fire some in a safe place and if they are interested take them hunting this fall. Always encourage safe gun handling.
The Rappahannock Game and Fish Club is to be thanked for its support of this project. The club is paying for the student material used in the safety course.
