ine iybo Donation Day for the Crippled Children’s Hospital will be Tuesday, November 26th.
At this time we appeal to all Virginians to share in oui program to restore these crippled children to physical health and usefulness.
We want yo,u to know Norma. She is a lovely blond-haired one year old, bom with bilateral dislocated hips. She has never tried to stand or crawl like other babies do at this age, and her only view of the world has been from her hospital crib. When she is older, she will know that skillful surgery and treatment gave her the priceless gift of being able to run and play as other children do. An operation of her hip was performed in April, 1968; and since that time, Norma has been wearing a cast on both legs and hips to keep her in the corrected position. Norma is one of 95 young Virginians at Crippled Children’s Hospital fighting to overcome birth defects or disabilities resulting from disease or faulty development. The doctors give their skilled services, but the cost of operating a modern hospital is high. $170,000 is needed to cover the deficit for this year.
Donation Day, November 26th, is the only time that the Hospital solicits voluntary contributions. The Crippled Children’s Hospital is the only entirely free crippled children’s hospital in the state of Virginia. It is open to all indigent, Virginia crippled children under 17 years of age.
