Piedmont Vocational School is currently planning an expansion program intended to satisfy a rapidly increasing demand for high school level vocational training and adult education.
Located on Route 15 between Orange and Culpeper, the former Carver schoolhouse was opened in August 1968 to students from Orange, Culpeper, Madison and Rappahannock counties. Initiation of classes climixed two years of planning and program development. Headed up by director Tom Broyles from Madison, the institution offers daytime courses in cosmetology, 1 data processing, carpentry, 1 drafting, electronics, masonry, motor mechanics, machine shop practice, and practical nursing. In 1 addition to curricula available during the day, adults may attend evening classes in basic and general education, bookkeeping, shorthand, and electricity.
The school is tied in with county high schools, and receives a percentage of its financial support from those counties that utilize the facility. Students taking vocational electives are bussed in. There is no charge for students from the four counties. Fee for an adult student is (
