Cost Sharing Aid
on Forestry Projects
Forester William C. Vernam of the Virginia Division of Forestry says, “Now is the time to sign up for cost sharing assistance under the Rappahannock County Agriculture Conservation Program for forestry projects to be carried out during 1969.”
Federal cost sharing assistance is available through the Rappahannock County Agriculture Conservation Program for forestry practices carried out under ASC Practice A-7 “Planting Forestry Trees” and Practice B-10 “Improving a Stand of Forest Trees”. Practice A-7 aids in reforesting cutover and abandoned land by cost sharing on tree planting and fencing to protect tree plantations from livestock grazing. Practice B-10 aids in improving a stand of trees to better the species composition and improve the rate of growth or to release planted seedlings from competing vegetation so that they may develop rapidly into a desirable stand for a future timber crop.
Rappahannock County landowners interested in cost sharing assistance for forestry work should contact Mr. James W. Coates at the ASC Office in Washington. Additional information concerning the program is available and landowners can sign up for practices for the 1969 program year.
