Raisin Nut Sticks

6 to 8 servings '/3 cup shortening 2 cups sifted enriched

orange rind

'2 teaspoon cinnamon

1 egg, beaten

self-rising flour y2 cup seedless raisins [2 cup chopped nuts 3 tablespoons brown

sugar Cut shorteninp inti 1 linin' until mixture resembles cnarse crumbs. Stir in raisins, nuts, brown supar. oranpe rind and cinnamon, lllend topether epp and 1 1 cup milk. Add liquid all at once to Hour mixture, stirrinp until Ilnur is moistened. If necessary, blend in more milk to make a soft douph. Turn out onto liphtly (loured board or pastry cloth and knead pently .‘50 seconds. Roll out to -1 x lti-inch rectanple. Cut into Id 1 x 1-inch strips. Place on unpreased bakinp sheet. Rake in preheated 100 oven 15 minutes, or until liphtly browned. Serve warm or cool.
