Letter To Editor
Dear Editor:
I wish to thank the people who called to congratulate me for the article in your paper. Also want to thank the ones who dropped money in a jar at the Sandwich Shop, which 1 gave to the Youth Group.
This week I would like to let the citizens ' of Rappahannock County know that we are losing Mr. James Jackson Wayland, one of the best 7th grade teachers we have ever had. Since he has been teaching in our Elementary School he has taken so much interest in our young people, the future leaders of our County. He is highly respected by all students, which means a lot. A child learns far more when he, or she has respect for the one who is teaching them.
If the County Supervisors, or School Board do not see fit to pay Mr. Wayland the salary he thought he’d eventually get when he came to Rappahannock, why not get together and have a fund raising for him. Should any one have any doubts as to his qualification, check with the ones who have had classes under him, or the teachers with whom he has worked.
Some try to make me believe all, or the best portion of our tax money goes to the schools, but quite a bit has been thrown away other ways. How about the BOUNDARY LINE? The money spent to find out about that WORTHLESS land would have paid a teacher’s salary at least two years.
Please wake up before it’s too late.
