Officers Elected for

Red Cross Chapter

At the annual meeting of the Fauquier Chapter American Red Cross held Wednesday, July 9 in Warrenton the following officers were elected: Chairman, Mrs. J. 0. Hodgkins III of Warrenton; vice-chairman, Ralph S. Brown of Marshall and Mrs. John P. Cutting of Warrenton; Secretary, Mrs. George Coyle of Warrenton and Treasurer M. J. O’Connell of Warrenton. Serving on the Board of Directors will be Mrs. Robert Gardiner, Sr., Mrs. Robert Muenster, Mrs. J. E. Decher, the Rev. William Parkinson and Shore Robertson, all of Warrenton; Mrs. Clarence Dearing and Col. Evan E. McNear of Washington; andj Mrs. Charles Walker of Broad Run.

In the report of activities there were 22 active members of Gray Ladies visiting in the hospital and nursing home; in the new Water Safety course 303 children completed their water safety classes with 10 volunteer instructors and 5 volunteer assistants. Under First Aid, 16 classes were taught in Fauquier and Rappahannock counties. Fourteen volunteer instructors issued 174 certificates. In Fauquier High School 4 volunteer instructors gave First Aid courses to 389 students.

Under Service to Military Families - 292 service and veteran families were served and 95 gift bags sent to servicemen in Vietnam.

In the Blood Program 708 donors gave 575 pints, the quota being 1000 pints.
