Daily Dove Bag

The U. S. Department of the Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service has chosen 1969 as the year to initiate an experimental increase in the dove bag limit for the Eastern Dove Management Unit, reports Game Commission Executive Director Chester F. Phelps. The increase from 12 to 18 in the daily bag limit for Eastern states is part of a 5 year statistical study to determine the effects of hunting on the dove population and to evaluate several methods of estimating dove numbers and hunter harvest. Other aspects of the dove framework released from Washington remain essentially unchanged, allowing 70 half days of hunting.
