Community College
Ground breaking ceremonies for the Region Fifteen Community College located at Middletown will be held Saturday, October 11,1969 at 11’ a.m. The college will servej Rappahannock, Clarke, Fauquier,? Frederick, Page, Shenandoah counties and the city of Winchester. *
Among those on the program for the ceremony will be Rev. William A. Jester, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, Middletown; Hon. Archie J. Manuel, Mayor of that town and Hon. Wilkie W. Hunt, Chairman of the Board. Dr. William H. McCoy, president of the college will make some comment and the Rev. John A. Baden, pastor of Christ Episcopal Church, Winchester will offer the benediction.
Streams Receive
October Trout
Some 40 streams in 33 western Virginia counties are scheduled to receive a fall stocking of trout from Game Commission hatcheries between October 13 and November 3, reports Fish Division Chief Jack Hoffman. This is the only large scale stocking scheduled for mountain streams this fall. Flood waters washed an estimated 20,000 trout from ponds at the Game Commission’s Montebello trout rearing station, but this is not expected to substantially affect fall stocking. All streams are reported to be in good shape with the possible exception of the Piney River in Amherst, which it scheduled to receive trout in tote October.
The North Fork of the Thornton River in Rappahannock will be stocked on Thursday, October 16 about 2:30 p.m. The same day the Hughes River in Madison and the South River in Greene County will also be stocked.
Streams to be stocked are:
Albemarle Co., Moormans R., North & South Fork.
Alleghany Co., S. Fk. Piney R.
Bath Co., Jackson River (Rt. 623).
Bland Co., Wolf Creek.
