The 1969 Donation Day for Crippled Children’s Hospital will be Tuesday, November 25th. A total of $180,000 will be needed to complete operating expenses for 1969.
Crippled Children’s Hospital relies greatly upon contributions from the public to maintain its costly program. Each year more than 4,898 patients, who otherwise would remain handicapped for life, are treated without charge to their families. The doctors give their time and skill free. Busy Richmonders on the Board of Trustees, the Board of Managers and the Junior Board put in hours of labor to keep the hospital running smoothly.
But in the final analysis, it takes money. Hospital costs miraculously have been held to $21.09 per day, chiefly because of the volunteer help given by churches, clubs and civic organizations. The hospital is not a member of the United Givers
