Traffic Statistics
Traffic deaths in Virginia for the first six months of 1970 numbered a tentative 552 to compare well with the 589 for the same period of 1969, Colonel H. W. Burgess, Superintendent of State Police, announced today.
Colonel Burgess said he used the word “tentative” since late reports and deaths of those now carried as injured are certain to
reductions in January, May and June more than counterbalanced increased in February, March and April. Monthly tolls for 1970 were January, 84; February, 103; March, 89; April, 86; May, 97, and June, 93. Comparable tols for 1969 were 98, 86, 75, 83,115 and 132 respectively.
