Miss Linda Gail Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell L. Jones of Twyman’s Mill, and Roy Lee Mathena II of Tulsa, Okla., son of the Rev. and Mrs. Roy L. Mathena of Chester Gap, were married Saturday, June 27,1970.
The double-ring ceremony took place at four o’clock in the afternoon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Oak Park, with the groom’s father officiating. The church was decorated with mixed white flowers, fern and candelabra. Paul Goodall, cousin of the bride, played the nuptial music and accompanied Mrs. Carolyn Byram, who sang “O Perfect Love.”
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a full-length Victorian gown of peau de sole with lace-bordered chapel train. Her shoulder-length veil of silk illusion fell from a crown of seed pearls and she carried a cascade of white daisies centered with orchids.
