When the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors met Thursday, October 1 at the courthouse, all members were present. Hie minutes of the last regular meeting, that of September 5 and those of a special meeting on the 15th were read and received approval. Among the items on the agenda to be discussed were roads, welfare, animal claims, trash, county brochure, revenue estimate from sales tax.
The Board had authorized a letter be written and sent the State Department of Education concerning inferior work and design of the local high school building which has required extensive repair in what they felt was much too short a time. They felt others should be alerted to these situations, as well as state architect and design engineers. Their letter was acknowledged and more is expected to be heard in the n^ar future. John Walker Jenkins, who has served as Deputy Sheriff of Rappahannock for the past five years tendered his resignation to the board, and thanked them for their consideration and cooperation while he served in this position. A claim was honored for a lamb reported killed and investigated by Dog Warden Jack Bruce. A motion was made and passed for a new seal used in stamping election ballots by the electoral board prior to elections. Approval was received for the reprinting of a brochure about Rappahannock County which is distributed through agencies in the State.
