Fall Color* Evident Soon j
The fall colors in the forests of Shenandoah National Park will soon be evident, announced Superintendent R. Taylor Hoskins. Colors in a few trees and low bushes now herald the annual color transition along the slopes.
Normally little change occurs before October, but this year the warm, dry weather during September and so far this month, has not been conducive to early coloration usually expected by this time. Shades of dark red can be seen in the dogwood, black jum, and Virginia creeper; while the birches, hickory, ash, locusts, md oak provide the dark yellows. Mr. Hoskins predicted that fair to good color is predicted for this weekend. Further reports on the >tatus of the colors will be issued. Most visitor-use facilities will remain open throughout the month.
