Recover Stolen Car
Two young men were apprehended for auto larceny last week by Rappahannock officers and were turned over to Front Royal, Warren County authorities where the theft actually occurred.
Sheriff Charles K. Estes and Investigator Thomas Galloway were patroling with Trooper W. A. Buntin Friday morning when they observed a car entering Route 211 from a lane just west of Amissville. When they stopped to check the vehicle, the two male occupants jumped out and fled. Melvin Junior Hitt, 18, who gave his address as Rixeyville was apprehended by Mr. Estes at the scene. His juvenile compahion, also of Rixeyville, escaped and was arrested Saturday by Trooper Buntin in Culpeper County.
The vehicle had been taken from the parking lot at Stokes Furniture Company in Front Royal between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 30. It was a 1964 Plymouth owned by D, Smeltzer, Front Royal.
Turkey Supper Oct. 17 In Flint Hill
A Turkey Dinner will be served Saturday, October 17 at the Flint Hill Fire Hall from 5 to'7 p.m. by the Churchwomen of the Flint Hill Methodist Church.
