Del. D. French Slaughter joined the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors for the regular March meeting of the group held Thursday at Washington. Rappahannock County will be in the district served by Mr. Slaughter following the redistricting of Virginia. Formerly connected with Warren and Fauquier counties, Rappahannock has been put in a new state house district which includes Orange, Madison, Culpeper and Rappahannock. In the new senatorial district, Rappahannock is with Culpeper, Madison, Page, Rockingham and the City of Harrisonburg. Del. Slaughter welcomed the county to his district stating that he will be happy to serve its citizens. Highway Resident Engineer James K. Skeen was present to request action on a resolution submitted two months ago on discontinuing maintenance on two small sections of secondary roads. No vehicles have been over these sections for years, nor have they been maintained for a number of years. The resolution was approved.
The annual road hearing was set for April 1, in conjunction with the regular Board meeting and will be so advertised.
A delegation from Huntly was present to request improvement of Route 662. Mr. Skeens informed them that this is being worked on and that gravel will be added in accordance with the general plan of road stabilization.
Dr. L. A. Dickerson, Director of Rappahannock’s Health Department, discussed changes in health districts to conform with the .regional planning of the State. Virginia has been marked out in regions and with these changes Rappahannock will be associated with the district which also includes Culpeper, Madison, Fauquier, and Orange, and will be called the Seventh Planning
