Ray T. Cannon of Castleton, right, received the 1970 B.C.I.A. Bull Feeding Test, Get of Sire Award following the State Beef Cattle Convention held February 5th at Natural Bridge. Rappahannock County Extension Agent Rapley Owings presents an engraved plaque to Mr. Cannon who was unable to attend the meeting. Mr. CAnnon had 7 bulls on test at the Culpeper and Dublin testing stations. These animals averaged 999 pounds at 365 days of age and all were sired by Kingdom Elevate 223, owned by Mr. Cannon at his El Rancho Grande farm at Castleton. From this breeder has come the highest indexing Angus bull ever sold in the two Virginia sales in 12 years of testing; top selling bull at the Dublin sale in 1969 and 70; top selling bull at the 1969 sale and grand champion steer of all breeds at the 1970 Culpeper area farm show.
