Wilbur M. Atkins, 59, of

Wilbur M. Atkins, 59, of Eggertsville, N. Y. died Sunday, March 7, 1971 in Eggertsville* He was a former resident of Sperryville, the son of Mrs. Lavinis C. Atkins of Sperryville, who survives. His wife was the late Margaret Kidd Atkins. Mr. Atkins was a bus driver.

He is survived by two daughters, Miss Janet Atkins and Miss .Linda Atkins, both of Eggertsville; and a brother, Lewis H. Atkins of Luray.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Clore Funeral Home in Culpeper with the Rev. John Bradley of Luray conducting the rites. D. B. Quaintance

A graveside funeral service for David Barton Quaintance, 20, of Wilmington, Del. was held Monday at 2 o’clock in Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper. The Rev. John S. Farrar conducted the service. Mr. Quaintance who died at Boys’ Haven in Boonesville on March 5, 1971, is survived by his father, Barton Preston Quaintance and mother, Joyce McGriffin Quaintance, both of Wilmington, Del. He is also survived by two sisters, Deborah and Nancy Quaintance and three brothers, Douglas, Richard and Alan Quaintance, all of Wilmington, Del. Clore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

In Teaching Position

Chuck Perdue of Woodville, has accepted a teaching position at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville as Assistant Professor in the English Department. Mr. Perdue has been studying local folklore and writing his Ph. D. dissertation in Rappahannock for the past year and a half. He will begin his teaching duties in the fall semester, 1971. Mr. Perdue with his wife Nan, sings folksongs in addition to collecting them. They have performed many times in Rappahannock and adjoining area and have recently performed in concerts in New Bedford, Mass, and in New York City.
