A $1,250 federal grant has been awarded to Rappahannock County for emergency medical services during the 1971-72 fiscal year. The allocation, to be matched with local funds, is available under the U. S. Highway Safety Act of 1966 and administered by the Highway Safety Division of Virginia, according to Director John T. Hanna. The grant will assist the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad in upgrading its communications system. The squad serves approximately 5,370 people in a 383 square mile area.
Last year Rappahannock County received federal allocations totaling $6,341 for safety programs through the Highway Safety Division.
