Dear Editor, ... u .■„*? If the unofficial results of this election are accurate and confirmed by the Electoral Board, I have been defeated by a lie and deception. A last minute letter signed by Manly Bruce was mass mailed to selected voters in Hampton District. The second paragraph of this letter is an out and out lie. This paragraph set the stage for the rest of the letter suggesting poor management in our schools, contributed to me; unfair tax assessments covered up by me; and political domination of me by two citizens associations. This also is a lie. These implications were called facts by Manly Bruce. I doubt if he knows whether they are fact or not because he knows very little about county government, but his advisors and the person or persons who wrote this letter know better.
This letter was designed to deceive the voter and timed so that it would be impossible for me to answer these untrue charges and implications before election. I believe it was calculated and intended this way not caring if the letter was fair or the contents accurate. This entire situation is the result of bitter people and totally bitter thinking.
