A fox horn-blowing contest to usher in an evening of amazing tales and adventuresj of fox hunting throughout the world told by Jane Mcllvaine McClary, noted author and fox hunter, will be the double feature of the Rappahannock Library’s first program of the fall season, Thursday, November 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Washington, Va.
William H. Lyne of Rappahannock who has a pack of fine hounds of his own, has gathered together a number of seasoned fox hunters, members of the Northern Virginia Foxhunters Association, who own some of the best hounds running to participate in the horn blowing. Among them will be two father and son teams, Walter and Richard Burke of Woodville and J. Lawton Blankenbaker and his son Jdck of Haywood; Jack Bruce of Sperryville, and the very youngest member, Randy Smith, age 8, of Amissville.
Jane Mcllvaine McClary, in her talk after the contest will have a long career of exciting fox hunts to draw upon for her stories of hounds, horses and foxes. Her enthusiasm for fox hunting has taken her as far west as the Arapehoe Hunt near Denver where the hounds chase coyotes through the sagebrush over the craggy mountain terrain.
