An eight year old Castleton youngster narrowly escaped fatal injuries Thursday morning when he was struck by a pickup truck on Route 729 near the school bus stop. w Christopher Thomas Hitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hitt, sustained severe internal injuries when he w<is struck by a 65 Chevrolet pickup operated by Mrs. George Beebe also of Caslleton. Christopher was on the right side of the road going to the bus stop and his brothers were on the opposite side of the road. As Mrs. Beebe, traveling in the same direction, went between the children, Christopher was struck from behind and was knocked down by the vehicle. The child was not run over, but pushed along by the slow moving truck according to investigation officer W. A. Bun tin.
Bake and Rummage Sale Benefits WVFD
A Bake Sale will be held Saturday, November 6 at Washington Cash Store starting at 10 o’clock for the benefit of the Washington Fire Company and Rappahannock Rescue Squad.
The Rummage Sale sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary is still in progress in the basement of the postoffice building in Washington, Va. this week on Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. and next week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
