Hounds in Galway where she stayed with a legendary master of the fox hounds, Thady Ryan. All in all she has hunted with eighty-two packs of hounds including the great American packs of Orange County, Piedmont, Middleburg, Old Dominion and Rappahannock, The English Quorn and Cottsmore hunts, and the famous Irish hunts of Duhallow and Gallway Blazers as well as the Scarteen.
She started hunting soon after she was brought to live in Virginia as a child and gained her fust rugged experience with such bell n ringing names of Virginia fox hunting as Dr. Archbold Randolph, Dr. Worster Smith and Sterling Larabee. As a junior rider she showed horses for General George Patton.
Among her many books are HOW TO WIN THE HUNT, an authoritative account of the sport of fox hunting THE WILL TO WIN, the story of Jay Trump, the Virginia owned horse that wop the English Grand National in 1969. For young adults she has written a number of books, such as Cammie’s Choice and Cammie’s Challenge which catch the spirit and excitement of fox hunting as well as the story of how it is to grow up with horses. She has written thirteen books the most recent of which is V novel, A PORTION FOR FOXES, due for publication next spring.
