Stir together flour, 1/3 cup sugar and cardamom. Mix in almonds. Blend together egg and 1 cup milk. Add liquid all at once to flour mixture, stirring until well blended. If necessary, stir in more milk to make a medium-thick batter. Dip pineapple slices and banana pieces, one at a time, into batter, turning to coat completely. Fry in preheated 375° deep fat until golden brown, turning once. Drain on absorbent paper. Roll in sugar. Serve warm.
