Park sets record

More visitors were recorded this December at Shenandoah National Park than in any other December on record. A total of 61,000 persons took advantage of vhe exceptionally good weather conditions which prevailed throughout the month. This was a 13.8 percent increase over December a year ago. Skyline Drive was closed for only one full day during the month.

At Big Meadows, the maximum temperature was 60 degrees while the minimum registered was seven degrees. Precipitation measrred 1.31 inches with 0.35 snowfall.

Statistics, for the year show a decrease of visitors in 1971 as compared to thj previous year; 2,406,400 in 1971 and 2,411,500 in 1970. □
