Cleanup planned
A COUNTY-WIDE CLEANUP is scheduled for one day, Saturday, April 14, in Rappahannock County and the concentrated effort will be effected by the co-operation of all. Coordinator for the project will be Kermit Weakley of Washington, Va. who accepted the chairmanship after being elected at a preparatory meeting held Saturday night. Weakley was not present for the meeting, but did accept the post when approached by Mrs. Dorothy Davis who had chaired the initial meeting.
An organizational meet for the clean-up will be held Friday evening, March 30, in the courthouse atj Washington beginning at 7:30 p.m., according to Weakley, who is requesting volunteers for district leaders as well as group leaders. Intense effort by young and old, individuals and groups will be necessary to accomplish a complete and effective cleanup.
Last spring marked the beginning of the county road cleanup when many of the young people observing earth day combined efforts with county residents and great strides were made in the day’s cleaning program, By using the previous year’s experience as guidelines, and even more successful cleanup should be instituted on April 14. □
