WORKSHOPS IN ENVIRONMENTAL education for local teachers and interested citizens are scheduled for four Saturdays during March and April. Ray Schaffner, Environmental Education Specialist, Shenandoah National Park, explained that the workshops will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude by 3:30 p.m. They are given at several locations so participants will not have to travel great distances to attend.
The first workshop will be held at the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center on March 31; Big Meadows Workshop will be at the Byrd Visitor Center on April 7; Loft Mountain Workshop will be at the campground amphitheater on April 14; and Pioneer Farm Workshop will be held at Humpback Rocks, 5 miles south of Rockfish Gap on the Blue Ridge Parkway on April 28.
The, one-day workshops give the basics of environmental education as well as an out-of-doors experience to participants in the areas where they might take school groups.
Anyone interested in attending the workshops should contact the Chief Park Naturalist, Shenandoah National Park Headquarters, Luray, 22835, by the Wednesday preceding each workshop. □
