A tractor-trailer rig ran off the road and turned over on its side down an embankment early in the morning of May 31, on Route 522 south of Flint Hill. Damage was extensive, but no injuries resulted.
Melvin Keith Nottingham of Mineral was driving the ’72 Mack tractor pulling a trailer loaded with wooden pallets. Nottingham said he didn’t know what happened, really, according to Trooper W. A. Buntin who investigated.
Officer Buntin said, “Nottingham told me he heard something snap and he lost control of the rig as he approached a hill. The huge piece of equipment ran off the right of the road and came to rest on its side.”
