Two types oi awards are given on a North American Trail Ride Conference Competitive ride — horse condition awards and horsemanship awards.
The horse award is determined by the condition of the horse, his pulse and respiration readings, leg swellings, sore back, etc. The horsemandhip award is judging the rider and how well he takes care of his horse, i.e. grooming, stabling, tack arid even trail equitation and manners.
PEOPLE from four states Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and South Carolina participated. Jimmy Atkins of Washington, Va. was Rappahannock’s representative.
