THE VIRGINIA Division of Motor Vehicles is now mailing extension applications to over 300,000 Virginia motorists who selected May as renewal month when they purchased 1973 license plates during March and April.
“We are now entering the second phase of the staggered renewal program,” explains Commissioner Vern L. Hill, “and we will begin assimilating car owners into the system in monthly increments.”
“Motorists who chose May as their renewal month are now receiving extension notices,” continues Hill, “ and by paying a partail fee, the validity of their 1973 plates will be extended from March through May 1974. At the same time, they will receive their month and year decals.”
MONTHLY mailings of extension notices will continue until all passenger car owners are integrated into the program. Those registering a vehicle for the first time are assigned the month of purchase as the month for renewal in the future. March and April will be
